Keep meaning to post something because I watch a lot of movies...haven't seen many memorable ones lately but here's a few.
The Birds: I have never seen this one but have wanted to since my professor showed us a scene in my film class in 2003 or 2004...it more than lived up to 20 years of expectations. Just perfection. Birds begin to attack humans in a small California town. Rating: A (DVD check out from library)
Better Man (2024): I've always been a huge Robbie Williams fan, so I was really interested in this jukebox musical of his life and songs. The filmed ended a bit too early in his life, and it also left out most of my fave songs, but I still enjoyed it. He chose to have him represented by a monkey as that's how he sees himself, and I got used to it right away. It just worked for the film. A- (DVD check out)
Big Eden (2000). One of El Chico's faves. A gay New Yorker goes back to his small Montana hometown and confronts his past when his grandfather has a stroke. The town did feel a bit TOO welcoming (almost as welcoming as NYC) for the year 2000 and for being Montana, but it was also refreshing to see that time period have a gay male romance that wasn't about AIDS. And future White Collar Star Tim DeKay had a part! (B+) Hulu.
Holland (2025: Two of my fave actors (Nicole Kidman and Gael García Bernal) in...an okay movie about a wife in Holland, Michigan, who is worried her husband is having an affair and so she teams up with Gael to figure out what's going on--it's more than meets the eye. B (It's on Prime but I saw it elsewhere)
Robocob (1987 I think). Dumb but fun. C (Max)
The Wedding Banquet (2025): I haven't seen the original, but despite a great cast, I feel there was no need for a remake...a gay man and a lesbian plan a wedding to avoid him having to go back to South Korea for work in his homophobic family's company. C+ (DVD check out)
