a number of young people who coasted through childhood with minimum responsibility and now don't understand why workplaces won't let them work 4 hour workdays (with an hour for lunch), 4 workdays per week AND make $250K/year right out of college. After a (short) lifetime of instant gratification and technology to do the work for you, some of them don't seem to understand the concept of working for what you want.

OTOH, I appreciate that the younger generations aren't workaholics and won't work themselves into a health crisis to make someone at their workplace happy. And I can totally get feeling frustrated that things their parents achieved-a house, two or more cars, regular vacations--might not be within their own reach.

On the OTHER other hand <g>...if the youngsters on House Hunters are the rule and not the exception, some younger people have unrealistic expectations. Apparently some younger people refuse to consider smaller houses (no, if it's just you, you do not NEED 2500 sq. feet) or used vehicles (a former co-worker of mine at my last workplace was making under $40K/year and was pregnant--she had no relationship whatsoever with the baby daddy--but felt comfortable buying a large SUV that was less than a year old and cost more than a year's salary rather than looking for something a little smaller or maybe a little older).
