(at the mall; no way was either of us walking outside on a mid-90 degree day with humidity to match!). On our second lap around, we were in one of the smaller hallways whose sole purpose is to lead into Round One, a giant arcade/bowling alley/snack bar. Ahead of us, I spied a piece of folded paper...I picked it up and it was a $20 bill. I looked around to see if there was anyone who might've dropped it* but there was no potential owner in sight.

* Dad told me he'd read about a new (to him at least) tactic where thieves "find" a $20 on the floor and try to give it back to a person. The mark usually denies it's theirs but will sometimes, at the prompting of the thieves, open their wallet or purse to check, at which point the thieves steal the wallet or purse.

I admit, I feel a little guilty taking the money. I considered trying to find someone in mall security to see if anyone reported losing $20, but I ultimately did not. I feel I would've tried harder to return a larger sum, or a sum that was in an envelope or purse or something with more of an identifier on it. I thought about maybe putting the entire $20 in the church offering plate or a jar collecting for some charitable organization...but I didn't do that. Instead, this morning I went over to Designer Fashion Warehouse where I'd seen a zip up hoodie I really, really wanted but do not need, and I couldn't really justify the price. Which was...$19.99. Not expensive by any means but a bit pricey for DFH which regularly sells sweatshirts for $10. So I went over and got the hoodie (which had been moved...I thought maybe it had sold but it had just gotten misplaced at some point, stuck in a rack of bathing suits) and only had to spend $1.34 of my money.

Oh, in a case of ACTUAL good news, today I got my title for my car in the mail 😃 A couple weeks ago, I transferred $4K from the "joint" account Dad and I have (that I never use, EVER...unless Dad wants me to withdraw a quick $20 for him) to my checking account. I gave it a few days to show up in my account, then I went online, intent on paying off my car loan...nope, had to get a certified check. Which I did, on the 13th, then put the check in the mail on the 14th. I'm shocked I got the title (and a letter saying my loan has been paid in full) so soon! But I'm very happy to not have to do any more business with Associated Bank, and in 10 months, I should have paid Dad back in full, plus a wee bit more <g>.
