I'm off today (not because it's a holiday) and considered doing...something. But then my aunt texted me late last week to see if I wanted to go walking on Sunday and then go somewhere for dinner. We had almost a solid week of cold, gray, rainy days...yesterday was sunny, albeit a bit cool for this time of year (only 64°). We went for a nice walk by Lake Erie and then went to a better than average Mexican restaurant and enjoyed a nice dinner. That felt like enough of a "celebration" of the holiday for me <g>.
Bff texted me last night to see if I was off today. She's off too; she participated with her dog Orso in a Memorial Day parade and wanted to come over to show off both her dogs and their holiday finery. They, along with bff's niece (who'd also walked a dog in the parade, though not bff's other dog*--Ginger is not great on a leash yet) stopped in for a brief-ish visit and indeed the dogs looked adorable. Orso had on a big red, white and blue bow tie with some red, white and blue star-shaped garland and Ginger was proudly sporting a stars and stripes headband and a red, white and blue lei around her neck. We had a nice visit, then they left to go to the niece's house for a BBQ. Dad and I will probably do some burgers on the fire pit ourselves later on.
* Oh, did I mention bff is now Ginger's official "mom" 😁? I knew it would happen, despite Ginger having a lot of expensive medical issues. The good news is her sister and BIL (both retired but from 6 figure jobs) agreed to "sponsor" Ginger and pay for any expenses bff can't cover. But shhhh...the owner of the doggie day care where bff works (and where bff met Ginger and learned of her need for a new home) doesn't know bff is keeping Ginger. She thinks bff's sis and BIL are Ginger's new owners and bff wants her to think that because the owner would otherwise spend a LOT of time telling bff what she should be doing for Ginger. Like bff doesn't know, having had a half dozen dogs already in her adult years.
