I've been very fortunate over the years...for three decades, my drive to work was short and relatively flat. I can only remember losing control of the car twice before this year; once, I slid over the line into the path of an oncoming vehicle (a BIG truck, no less) but was able to course correct in time and once I was leaving work and slid off the "road" that led into the workplace. Someone I've never seen before was right there when it happened and was able to use his pickup truck to pull me back onto the road.
