I just replied to Sparky that my heel-wearing days are all but over. I've never been able to walk, or even stand, in stilettos but I used to like a nice, chunky 2" or so heel. Heels made my legs look even shapelier (I'm very critical of my appearance but even I have to admit I have nice legs <g>). But now I put on those same 2" chunky heels and I practically have to stomp like a horse to get from point A to point B.
(OMG so glad that's in the rear view mirror, also I hate wearing suits and prefer my own mash up of a nice sweater, a blouse and slacks. I even hate carrying a purse; that's what my cell case is for :P)
It fascinates me how some younger women have abandoned purses. I spent about three decades not really being a purse gal--if I was dressed casually and had pockets, that was all I needed--and I'm still not highly enthusiastic about purses, so I get it. But as I get older, I *need* a purse to carry around all the junk I like to carry around: wallet, phone, lip balm, hand cream, tissues (SO many tissues), pens, paper (I still prefer to jot down notes on pieces of paper), key fob, reading glasses, a small magnifier for when the reading glasses aren't quite enough (the print IS getting smaller, dagnabbit!) and a few mints for when my breath is a little funky. I haven't yet gotten around to wrapped butterscotch candies in my purse yet <g>.
Now in CA it's just everywhere. Even the younger partners I work with are really over heels and dressy shoes.
