I sometimes feel like a "bad" Cleveland (adjacent) native because instead of insane love for the original movie, I have more of a strong like for it*. I've never been to the Christmas Story house (I was in the gift shop once only because I met my sis, BIL, bro and nephew at the restaurant right next door for lunch once) and while it's on the to-do list, it's not very high up on the to-do list.
* the book, which I had to read for a freshman honors English class, was better.
That being said, I love that there's a proper sequel to the movie all these years later, featuring almost all of the original cast. While slightly less witty than the original movie, A Christmas Story Christmas has the same rhythm and energy, and large parts of it made me smile. Will it be a movie I seek out every Christmas...or really ever again? Probably not, but I won't get mad if anyone else insists on watching it and wants me to watch it as well.
