I didn’t have high expectations, based on the subject matter. But I liked it a lot. It’s about a papal conclave to elect the next pope after the death of the current pope. Ralph Fiennes heads a great cast that includes Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini. During the process, secrets and scandals are discovered about various candidates. I never got bored, it was suspenseful, the cinematography was beautiful, the characters all seemed like real human beings not caricatures and there was a surprise ending. Try not to get spoiled if you want to see this movie.
