The drywall guy had told my daughter that he'd be back today at 8am. He showed up about fifteen minutes early, setting off the dogs and distracting them from their breakfast (one even
barked in the house...and extreme NO GO at this house), then they refused to do their business in the backyard before I left. I locked them inside, let the guy into the backyard, gave them a chance to do their thing in the side yard (nada), and left them inside. I returned, let them out and they finally did their thing, so I could leave for an appointment.
My daughter commented that she'd seen the guy WAY UP HIGH in the former screen room working on the drywall, so she went into the pantry to fake getting some cereal so she could see what he was doing without being obvious. She said that he was "walking" on upside down Home Depot buckets, sliding them along as he sanded the drywall on the ceiling. I said, "So, it's an OSHA violation in progress?" She shrugged.
When I got home, one gate was closed and one was open. He was gone, and the hose was disconnected from the washer's faucet. At least the walls weren't getting any wetter. Now, we have to wait for more drying. Since nobody was here when he left, and the dogs take terrible notes, we don't know when/if he's coming back. I'll be mentally prepared for 8am tomorrow.
I got back around 12:30, so he probably worked about four hours. He probably does half a day at one place and half a day at another, then returns the next day to do work on one, then the other. Much of drywall work is waiting for the mud to dry.
After the drywall will either be the electrical work or the painting. I'm not sure when the cement work (stoops/platforms outside of the doors) is going to happen. They have to excavate some dirt before they can do that.
We're moving along, but the bathroom they dismantled still has to be fixed and the plumber still has to put in the faucet for the outside. I'm not liking the plumber.
Right now, the dogs get to roam free, but I'm having a hard time getting them to use their door when the people door is hanging open. One dog is outside somewhere and the other is asleep on the couch. Oh, to be a dog.
