… and there is a 2022 tv series. But reading the description of the series, it sounds like it is very loosely based on the book. Because the book is definitely not about a father and daughter. I haven’t seen either the movie or the series.

I hesitated to read The Book Thief for the same reason. I have read a LOT of WWII novels. But when someone told me who the narrator is and described his wry sense of humor, I was all in.
