who grows up in poverty in Southern Appalachia. I loved and rooted for that kid from the beginning. It was a particularly bittersweet read reading it right after Hurricane Helene flooded Southern Appalachia so badly. I hope somebody bases a movie on this novel.

The only other Kingsolver novel I’ve read is The Lacuna and I loved that too. So….

I’m currently reading her first novel, The Bean Trees. I guess I’m on a Kingsolver kick.
