I buy a rotisserie chicken at Costco every month for my dogs. I'm not a fan of their chicken. It's too greasy and bland for me; but the vet said that the dog who had hip surgery needs to have more protein in her diet, so I get them a chicken that they eat during the month. It's much cheaper than canned, raw, or other types of chicken. It's cheaper than dog food, too.
I shred their chicken and boil then slow cook the bones for bone broth.
As I usually tell my contractors, "It's all about the dogs."
I think that having stuff in individual ingredients gives me more options, as long as I don't commit to one thing and do all taco seasoning, Italian spices, or shoyu/teriyaki/Hoisin sauce. The simple meat can be transformed on a whim.
