Yes. There really needs to be more than just the 4 of them--practically when the main focus is the 3 of them. I feel like they need at least one more person. It also doesn't help that Tristan isn't really likable. I cannot stand arrogance. I haven't watched last night's episode yet.
He's a little arrogant but I kind of feel like he's the character I understand the most.
I want to like Avery but I didn't understand her pique at the fact that they hired an MD to lead the cruise's medical department in the first episode and claiming she has just as much training. She doesn't. And of course they're going to need a doctor who will likely be in charge. And in last night's episode, she was stuck up to someone whose good graces she needs. It made no sense.
I want to like Max but he asked Tristan if he was in love with Avery when he didn't need to even press. Once he got confirmation, he turned around and tried to seduce her. It makes him a terrible boss to both Tristan and Avery. Like...who does that?
The captain is okay, if a bit boring.
Tristan is a little cocky, but, as a character, he's straightforward. They aren't undermining who they want him to be. If anything, he's improved from when we first saw him vs. the other two.
ICAM about the execution. But sometimes, you have to give shows a few episode before they hit their stride. I remember feeling the same way about Arrow. Season one was ALL over the place. "You have failed this city!" And lawd, that wig in the flashbacks was a lot. Stephen Amell has panned majority of season one and he was right. Eventually, they found their groove.
Normally, I'd agree with his when it comes to sitcoms. I think dramas usually are what they are. They might get better later but they're usually solidly constructed in their first season.
I'll stick with this as long as it entertains me and I want to see what guest stars pop up. I didn't even recognize Shania Twain from last week. I wasn't paying attention to the opening credits and saw it online later. I was like THAT's why she looked familiar.
Maybe I'll wait to see if it gets better and binge it as background noise while I work.
