Workers are supposed to believe that the generous and benevolent top-level people are freely and equally sharing the goodness of the company. Meanwhile, they're trying to make sure nobody knows how much anybody else is making so they can't see who's getting more than others (that was illegal until recently), try to pay people in pizza parties, or threaten to fire people who look out for themselves (the workers who DIED during Hurricane Helene because their "manager" told them they'd be fired if they left as the water rose, or the workers at Amazon who couldn't leave when tornado sirens went off and died when a wall collapsed on them). Us and them, anti-union rhetoric (and mandatory "training") keeps workers grateful to have their current job and afraid of losing what little they have, anxious that somebody else is trying to get more than their fair share or they'll be replaced by someone else.

Here's the link to the cookie meme: [link]

"Careful, he wants to take your cookie" is whispered by the boss with the rest of the cookies to the guy who has one cookie. The person "taking your cookie" is the new immigrant, a woman, a foreign worker where the whisperer shifted the company's work, etc.
