That was an awesome premiere. It showcased why the show is still going and why I will watch until the series finale.
That opening was made of awesome. I knew it had to be a dream of a fantasy because after dealing with bigots, and misogynistic, condescending jerks-- Bailey would never slap her boss. I knew it would be a good episode when I saw that Debbie Allen was the director. I loved how she choreographed the argument--especially how they walked around the table, sizing each other up. I feel like I'm the only one who likes Catherine. She can definitely be a polarizing character but she is not wrong in this research story. She is the boss. She told Meredith to stop the research and Meredith agreed. Not only did she lie, she roped in her friends--including the chief--who misused funds that were to be used for other initiatives. Catherine was right to fire all of them for insubordination. Owen even yelled at her in front of the staff. Speaking of Owen, I did not miss Teddy or Owen at all. Jackson was on the money with what he told Meredith. I like Mer but she always thinks she's right and because of her mother, she is unstoppable. Remember when she messed with Derek's Alzheimer's trial? She goes rogue way too often and this time, she took down other people. If anyone needs a slap, it's Meredith. She is arrogant, conniving, entitled and ungrateful. If she wanted to continue her research so badly, then raise the funds or sell her stake in the hospital, as she mentioned in the episode. No. She decided to be sneaky and it blew up in everyone's face.
I knew Lucas would say no to Chicago and I hope he and Simone get a few episodes of happiness before encountering their next obstacle. Please no triangles. I love their chemistry.
Nice twist having Meredith be the one who finds Catherine before she collapsed. I wonder was the deal was they made. I hope Catherine pulls thru.
Happy for Jo and Linc. They both deserve some happiness.
