That would've ruled. Instead this show is more in the vein of a "Suits" (corporate law) which I'm not a big fan of.
I think about "Roswell New Mexico" as a reboot of "Roswell" and they did a number of different things (like aging the characters up from teens to adults, different romantic pairings, etc.) but it was still the same characters from the original series with the same theme of the show (human looking aliens with powers).
Then there was "Walker" which was definitely not a traditional reboot of "Walker, Texas Ranger" but just a Texas Ranger named Walker. 🤣🤣 (I wasn't a fan of either version).
But back to the "Matlock" reboot, the title is really just a gimmick to get viewers. They could've just made a lawyer series with Kathy Bates and many people would've watched it without resorting to using the title of a famous old show.
