My pet theory is that people stopped watching mid-way through the show's run, tuned back in just for the finale and didn't "get it", therefore it must be "bad". No, that finale is really good. It leaves me a blubbering mess every time I see it.

I do agree on "The Shield" being high on the list. It was a gut punch of an ending but it was a gut punch of a show so it felt right.
