area of KY where my mom was growing up (40s and 50s), and I wonder what she would have thought. She liked The Giver of Stars better than the Book Woman (she read them shortly before she passed away). I liked them both myself.
(She didn't remember ever seeing any of the Blue people though.)

Historical fiction is extremely popular in Spain, but I just always get the feeling the author is trying too hard and/or it feels forced and it just rarely clicks with me. I can read stuff written in the nineteenth century, but...not stuff written in 2024 that's supposed to take place then. Maybe it feels artificial.
BTW, you're not a bad Christian if you don't like most Christian fiction. And I hope the third book is as good as the first!
