how much the repairs were going to cost* and it was all I could do to not sigh and tell him "if you'd kept up with repairs along the way, you would've been able to space out the cost somewhat". It's not (yet) my house...I can make suggestions, I can keep the interior as clean as possible but I cannot make Dad make repairs I deem important.
* while the pro was out, Dad asked him about the utility sink, which is attached to the washing machine in the garage. The cold water handle came off a LONG time ago, but since we rarely use that sink other than to let the washing machine drain into it, we've been ignoring that as well. Pro did some searching on his iPad...that would've been another $1300. Dad said no to that one, as I expected he would.
