With my mother, it's my older siblings. Now that they are both in contact with the family she's gotten used to saying she has four children. But she used to absolutely hate to admit she had two children who were put up for adoption. I fully get it. People can be judgemental creeps with zero empathy. But at the same time, the way people handle these things can change.
