a garage sale. I just have a problem believing it'd be some gun-wielding maniac in the middle of the day. And hey, if you *don't* need the money, then all you did was help a few people at a sale get a good bargain AND help some robbers get some money they apparently need 😆
I would need to see national figures plus percentages to determine if I thought theft at a garage sale was really a problem. Right now, my biggest problem is Mrs. J is over 80 years old and handling the money. I don't 100% trust her to put the amount made from the sale of an item in the correct column (she's keeping track the way she has for decades: she has a piece of paper with columns and the initials of the different sellers at the top of each column), and I suspect at least one year, she either accidentally listed an item I was selling as a sale for another participant...or just skimmed a few bucks off the top. All I know for sure is I knew what I'd taken over, and I knew how much I should've made, and when I got what was left of my stuff back, the money I pocketed was less than what the sold items had been worth.
