for the very reason you state: they're all so formulaic. Also, I don't subscribe to the theory that if you love the parent show, you'll love all the spinoffs. I watched NCIS...I liked NCIS: LA just fine (though it wasn't exactly "must see" TV for me, especially towards the end) but couldn't get into any of the other NCIS dramas. I watched Chicago Fire for a bit but never felt the need to try Chicago PD or Chicago Med.
