I've mostly already made up my mind what I'm going to do but I'd like to hear other opinions.

I have two friends with daughters graduating from high school this year. One is a friend from high school--let's call her HSF--and the other a friend from college--CF. I can't use initials as they have almost the same first name. In a weirder twist, their daughters were born only days apart AND both of THEIR names are extremely similar. They met each other for the first time at my 50th birthday party 6 years ago and hit it off, as I knew they would; both women are sweet and kind and make friends easily.

HSF and CF both live far away(ish) now. I see both of them 1-2 times a year when they come back to visit their moms (both their dads are now deceased) and we always have a good time. However, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen either of their daughters and have fingers left over. I've probably said less than a dozen words to either daughter, and I'm pretty sure neither of the girls could pick me out of a lineup of their moms' friends.

Last week, I got graduation announcements for both girls. The one for HSF's daughter included an invite to her graduation party in July. It would be a 2 hour drive, and HSF included a note saying she would TOTALLY understand if that was too far for me to drive. HSF and her hubby just built their dream house another 45 minutes or so further away; I'd considered visiting them later this year, or maybe next year, in their new digs.

What would you do re: recognizing both girls' graduations? Would you send cards to both? Would you send cards with a little cash in them (I'm 100% certain the graduation announcements were not a money grab)? Would you attend HSF's daughter's party since it's not too far away and wouldn't require an overnight stay or anything?

I'm interested to know how everyone would handle this...
