until the next morning. I have solar and I'm not willing to pay extra to wash my dishes.
I wait until the sun is up and use my own electricity to do the dishes. I've made the shift and try to do most of my heavy electrical use during the day when the power is being created so I can increase the size of the "bank" (extra electricity credits for producing more than I'm using) so I'll have credits available for at least part of the winter when I don't produce enough electricity to cover my use.
Since I switched to heat pumps with mini splits last summer (the first year with a leak in the refrigerant lines, so it didn't really count but was very expensive), I usually have enough credits to pay the "normal" price for electricity for most of the year, but pay a lot more in November/December through February/March. Usually my bill is $32, but in those outside, low production, no credits months, I can pay up to $150. Using my power when it's produced helps me build my bank which lowers my bills in the short daylight months.
