the patio of one of her favorite restaurants...it's supposed to be cool and possibly rainy tomorrow.

Last night, I went with my aunt to a free polka band concert. Polka isn't really my thing but Auntie wanted to go, and she doesn't like to go to social events by herself; the concert was free and she volunteered to drive so I went along. The place had a food truck from a popular German restaurant downtown; Auntie really wanted to go for the food truck as the restaurant is expensive and in a part of town where it's a pain to park <g>. The food truck was good; Auntie got the chicken schnitzel sandwich and I got a pork schnitzel sandwich. The band was also pretty good. There were maybe 50 people in attendance. We had thunderstorms last night which forced the concert to be held indoors; had it been outside and the weather nicer, I suspect more would've attended. The band played for about 90 minutes, performing both well-known polkas and some country and pop songs that they "polka-ized". The lead singer and accordion player bears a strong resemblance to Johnny Cash and sounds a bit like him too (he also sounds a bit like Elvis) so of course two of the songs performed were Ring of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues. A few people danced...I teasingly asked Auntie if she wanted to dance (most of the dancing was little old ladies dancing the polka with each other) but she told me she'd have to be drunk for that to happen <g>.
