When I was, oh, junior high age, we used to have these thin plastic drinking glasses. One night, I was in the living room with one of those glasses half full of water in one hand and a school notebook in the other. Then I noticed I'd left my basketball next to the front door instead of putting it away in the closet like I usually did. I was trying to figure out how to pick up the basketball when both hands were already full; I got the brilliant idea to use my teeth to hold the glass by the thin rim. So I bent down, used my teeth to hold the glass "in" my mouth, picked up the basketball with my now empty hand...and straightened up, which now meant the glass clenched between my teeth went from vertical to horizonal. It's hard to explain...but I essentially gave myself a faceful of water when I stood back up.

Another favorite...I went to Toronto with my bff and another good friend from college when we were all in our 20s. Bff and my other friend both were valedictorians of their high school classes and I graduated 12th in a class of 250 and had made it into a national Who's Who book of students. We were all in the honors program at college and had all graduated with distinction. This isn't bragging...this is important to the story <g>. We spent three nights in an unassuming room at a budget motel and though it wasn't particularly hot outside, it was sweltering inside our room. For two nights, we grumbled about the heat in our room...finally, in the middle of the third night when none of us were sleeping because it was so hot, in the quiet, I finally, quietly said..."Um...maybe we should turn down the thermostat?" We all laughed for about 5 minutes straight, then I got up and turned the thermostat down from low 80-something to a more comfortable 68 degrees.

And as I mentioned to Pablo in the book post, this past weekend, I walked into a door... [link]
