escaped serious damage. Like Kitchop, I'd never considered trees being protective in high winds; I only worry about them uprooting and landing on a house. We have a very old, very LARGE tree in the backyard...I've tried to calculate the distance between the tree and the house to determine if some day it could ever fall on the house. I don't *think* it's quite tall enough to do so; if it is, we'd likely only be hit with some small branches.

Anyways, you have a great attitude about the situation!
