It gave you points on travel, dining and gas purchases. But I don't travel much (once a year if I'm lucky; I wish I could afford to travel more) and I usually pay cash for meals just because it keeps me from going overboard with spending. So I opted for the cashback card. I just wish I'd switched over before the trip to NC...just got the bill for that and hoo-boy! I have a travel fund that will more than cover it but man, even after getting cheap hotels (one of which was nice, one...not as much), the trip cost more than I was expecting. Gas alone was over $150, and I'd not realized how many/how much in tolls I was going to pay. Since PA now mails you your bill, I still don't know how much the tolls will have eventually cost me...we paid $12.75 in WV on the way down and on the way back, there was a $4 toll in southern VA and another $4 when we entered OH, so that's almost $21 right there. Oh, and when I couldn't park at the hotel where the restaurant is where we celebrated the graduation, I was sent to a parking garage that charged me $12 just to park for about 2 hours. The worst part about that (IMO): the hotel/restaurant was literally a two block walk from the graduation ceremony but neither Sis nor BIL can walk any distance, so we all took the shuttle back to the (free) parking lot several miles off campus and then drove to the hotel/restaurant. Had it been just me--and knowing now what I didn't know then--I would've just walked to the hotel/restaurant.
