I've set the tomato plant near the mint, hoping the mint smell will deter some of the wildlife (plus the deer rarely get that close to our porch), plus I'm planning on spraying the leaves with a garlic-infused water later. Maybe add some Irish Spring shavings around the edges to keep out the smaller vermin?
