I read a review in Variety of Andrew Scott in the role and it was not flattering. I think I'll pass on it.

I haven't seen the show yet but I have seen some book fans mad at that review because they feel it's looking for Matt Damon's Ripley as opposed to the book series Ripley which is what inspired this series.

Over the course of the book series, Ripley becomes a much more sinister psycho.
