Whoa...I cannot even imagine having house guests that often <g>. Dad can barely manage to be civil for a 3 hour visit from family.
What a cool thing to do!
I've been trying to remember what Sis brought to the Airbnb when we all stayed on Edisto Island a couple years ago. A lot of times with Sis, it's not the kind of food she cares about, it's a specific (usually local) maker of said food. For example, I vividly remember her bringing four--FOUR!--large containers of chicken salad from a place aptly named "Chicken Salad Chick"; each container was a different flavor. I considered making chicken salad...or more likely buying some...but I figured it wouldn't be the "right" kind of chicken salad.
I should also mention my sister is (generally) very gracious, and I can't imagine her fussing because there's no specific food or no big meal cooked while she's here. She acknowledges that she's "terrible" (her word) at planning while on vacation and meals are sometimes missed because of that.
Now see, this? THIS is how you plan for vacation <g>.
The one thing nobody can say about us is that our cupboards are bare. Right now there's plenty of dried pastas and jars of sauce, multiple cans of soup, a couple boxes of cereal, plenty of eggs...not enough bread now that I think about it (I don't eat a ton of bread normally...though I'm a BIG fan of carbohydrates, emphasis on "big")...a bag of potatoes and enough frozen foods to fill both the freezer above the fridge and the full size freezer in the garage (a large standup freezer, not some squat little thing). The only thing I try to make a point of buying is bottled water. Our tap water is...an acquired taste, and while Dad and I like it just fine, few others do. It's a bit metallic tasting.
Your last line--SO true! I'm grateful Sis and BIL seem to be omnivores. They'll eat pretty much anything! Just recently, Sis and I were discussing this...I didn't know BIL hates olives. Hates them. HAAAAAAATES them. Like, if you order a supreme pizza, he can't even pick the olives off. Olives merely sitting on an entree taint the entire thing to his mind. He'll literally eat anything else though.
