tried to talk me into service I didn't need at the time. And wound up never needing. I was so disappointed...I half expect it from the guys who see a woman and think "she won't know anything so I can talk her into extra services". But a female mechanic should be less likely to make that assumption.
The mechanic I mentioned above, is one we have been dealing with for about 20 years. He never talks "down to" me as a woman and takes seriously any issue/noise I bring to his attention. I don't know who we will go to whenever he decides to retire.
Yeah, when you got a good mechanic, you hang on to them as long as you can. Dad took his car a couple times to a guy that's literally a few minutes down the road. He was fixing cars out of a (huge, really nice modified) garage just behind his house. And of course just as Dad starts to relax and think "this guy's good...I trust him", the guy retired.
