for smaller purchases because I tend to overspend once I whip out the card (I've heard a lot of people are somewhat the opposite: they will spend every last cent if they have cash but somehow be more conservative with a card). So it still throws me a bit when I find out a business is cashless.
Interestingly, we have a SUPER popular Italian restaurant in town, known for their pizza, that only takes cash. I keep waiting for them to change their policy but they haven't. Apparently only accepting cash isn't affecting sales; in fact, considering a few years ago, they were able to buy land next to the strip their place was originally in and build a nice standalone restaurant three times the size of the old one, not taking cards hasn't hindered them a bit.
