should take camping trips like this and really see, and understand, how people not like them live. Dad's fond of advocating for everyone to spend 3 weeks in a "third world" country, living like the average citizen. He feels that would make some people think twice about complaining when, say, the store is out of "their" brand of soy milk or the bedsheets are only a 200 thread count instead of a 300 thread count.
I think I would've greatly benefitted from such a trip like yours--my semi rural town is pretty homogenous. But I have NEVER liked "roughing it" and there's (almost) no way I'm (voluntarily) sleeping on the ground or going a week without a shower at my age <g>.
