What I cannot stand though is the current "trend" of slathering on a layer of what is basically guacamole and then topping it with tomatoes, onions, etc. and calling it avocado toast.

No Ma'am. Avocado toast requires freshly sliced actual avocados. And good hearty bread that has been toasted.
