my list of states I can cross off...I have to, and I quote, "touch the soil". So no counting flyovers (I wasn't anyways) and no counting layovers at an airport. OTOH, I can cross off Indiana despite having been there just long enough to have lunch (on a visit to Van Wert, which is on the OH-IN border) I was only in Connecticut for a long afternoon. And I can cross off Arizona despite having only been in the state for maybe 5 minutes...we were visiting Hoover Dam and I was excited to learn the other end of it is in Arizona. So I ran across, squatted down, touched the soil and shouted "There! I can cross off Arizona now!".
Now you have me curious to see if my count is accurate. My list of states I've visited (or more accurately have been in long enough to touch the soil)...
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Connecticut
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Nevada
New Hampshire
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Vermont
Virginia
West Virginia
Aw, nuts. I said I've been to 32 states in the other post but my count here is only 28. Still over halfway...I clearly see I need to get out to the midwest, maybe do a driving trip and cross off multiple states. I like trips that knock out two or more states at the same time; last summer, I was debating a trip to the Delaware beaches, with a jaunt over to New Jersey, and I've also wanted to go to Alabama's Gulf Shores (maybe Orange Beach) and make a drive over to Biloxi, Mississippi. I'd also like to take a trip to the West Coast and drive some coastal roads from Southern Washington down into Oregon.
