I'm so paralyzed by indecision over what kind of mattress to get. If I wait much longer, I might wind up ACTUALLY paralyzed...

drive a car. I've heard horror stories of people spending 4, 5 or even 6 hours at the dealership. I mean it's been a few years since I heard it taking that long. When I bought my last car in 2016, I made sure to get as much of the paperwork done prior to going. I think I was there 2.5 hours.

I was surprised by how long I was at the dealership last year getting my Kona. I knew I wanted to test drive it and for some reason, a lot of dealerships these days make you make an appointment. My appointment was for 1:30, the salesman couldn't get free (or was maybe just in the back ignoring me) until around 1:45, we schmoozed, I went on a short test drive, and I signed a bunch of papers just to make the car mine. And then I went into the finance office and was there almost 90 minutes while the guy kept offering me extras and I kept telling him no, don't waste both our time because I'm going to keep saying no and he kept telling me he "had" to ask, it was his job. Poor Dad came along for the ride (no pun intended)...he sat in the waiting room, which wasn't all that interesting, for over 3 hours. He told me later he wished he'd brought his book; that man doesn't care where he is, for how long, as long as he has something good to read.

My friend test drove his Audi and then ordered it and the damn thing was delivered to his house! He posted videos of it on FB.

Sweet! I don't think I'll ever understand people buying a car they've not personally test driven, even a car that they've driven that particular model before (I've had cars I was *convinced* I would buy...right up until the test drive). But buying a car the way your friend did? Definitely a good deal!

I will tell you all this tip while COVID is still happening. I ordered a mattress from Amazon and it was too firm, so I was going to send it back because I still had 30 days. No lie. The woman asked me to take it to my local UPS. I was like are you freaking kidding me? I am not taking a mattress to UPS. Send a truck. She put me on hold and then came back and said per her supervisor, I don't have to return it due to COVID. They refunded my money and I can keep it or throw it away. I was floored. I gave it to my mom and she loves it.

Wow. Glad you got to keep the mattress but really, how did they think you would get the thing to UPS?

The same thing happened with Wayfair. I ordered a tapestry it was like 5 feet long. It cost me like $80 and there was strings everywhere. I called to complain and ask for a replacement. To my surprise she refunded my money and told me to toss it. My mom saw it and was like, get me some scissors. She got on her hands and knees and cut all the lose threads. Luckily I had a second pair of scissors and joined her. I didn't think of that because I just figured I'd have them send me another one that didn't look so haggered. I get compliments on it all the time.

I love it! You, your mom and some scissors for the win!
