I woke up this morning to the same blinding sunshine and warmer than usual temperature. Turned on the local news to catch the weather forecast; they assured me it was going to be warm all day, with thunderstorms coming "later tonight". Key word there: TONIGHT.
So I basically lazed about all morning long, doing some VERY minor chores, finishing a crossword puzzle (and being very proud of myself for getting all the words correct on the first try and not needing to Google any answers, though I double checked a few after I filled them in), having a pleasant discussion with Dad, etc. After lunch, after I'd had some time to digest, I put on my walking shoes and stepped out...to a darkening sky, with what looked like a thundercloud in the distance. Oh well, no worries...it's not going to rain until later TONIGHT, yes?
No.
I was about as far from my house as I could get, down an extension that I'd have to double back on, when the skies opened up and it started pouring. I got drenched. Luckily, I had the good sense to toss on my rain jacket...it only helped a little. There was no lightning but the thunder was LOUD. I only got in about half the walk I wanted to and now it's been raining almost ever since I got back.
Oh well...the sunshine and 70 degrees was nice while it lasted!
