it's 30°, the wind is ferocious and it's lightly snowing *sigh*. We had thunderstorms overnight; I told Dad this morning that I woke up shortly after 5:30 AM to my room lit up by flashes of lightning plus a low, almost continuous rumble of not-quite thunder. He told me that was nothing compared to the clap of thunder that literally shook the house around 2:00 AM. I...slept through that one.
This afternoon, I took my aunt out for a belated birthday meal. We went to a new (to us) Mexican place--Wild Burrito--in Madison. It was very good, definitely a step or two up from the ubiquitous cookie-cutter Mexican restaurants all around where the salsa is almost ketchup and every dish is covered in red sauce, cheese and lettuce and tastes almost exactly the same ("Wait...is this the cheese enchilada or the beef taco that I'm eating?"). Afterwards, after a quick stop at Heavenly Safe chocolates (named because most of their homemade chocolates are "safe" for vegans and folks with various allergies), my aunt wanted to go over to Lake Erie Bluffs to watch the waves on the lake. As it was her birthday outing, we did so...but I was not dressed warmly enough, nor were the boots I was wearing suited for walking on rough trails, so we didn't stay long. Even being outside in the cold and strong wind for only maybe 15-20 minutes, my face felt *raw* when we got back to the car.
