some people in my family have planned theirs beforehand so the relatives wouldn't have to deal with it. But it was more like instructions left/discussed, etc. I don't know that I could actually accompany the person to the funeral home to discuss that person's own funeral. With my dad, we handled it at the funeral home (but that was only to deal with getting him cremated--the memorial was at a separate place). But that was after he passed, not before.
