I'm also reading the book (never mind being spoiled).
The movie was very well-acted and Rachel Zegler has a beautiful voice. Tom Blyth was excellent.
However, how they got from A to Z with Snow was weird and didn't make sense. We see 18 yo Snow, a pretty nice, considerate if entitled and playing for the audience kid, to full on Ev.Il was kinda dumb. They spent a full 2 minutes or so of Coriolanus reacting to the realization that Lucy had left him over his increasingly alarming behavior. This is supposed to be the raison d'etre for him turning so dark, and it didn't land for me.
I suppose that's a credit to Blyth's acting (the lingering shots of his reaction), but it was so anti-climactic. Like, that's it? OK, he'd also grown comfortable with killing, but in some cases (as when he got stuck in the ring), he had no choice.
So it was OK. But the two leads were really good.
