I think he was also in his late 40s. I remember interacting with him a lot back in the day.

Everyone thought that since he posted about it, that he was going to be okay. I logged into Facebook and there was post after post saying he was dead and no one could believe it and how much he was going to be missed etc.

That's sad that an accident or complications from that caused his demise more than his health issues.
