I still like Wendy's and eat there not frequently but not infrequently. OTOH...bff was kind enough to bring me McDonald's for lunch last Sunday when I was at the emergency vet with Leo. She knows I love their fries and sweet tea but wasn't sure what sandwich to get me, so she got me a cheeseburger AND a fish sandwich. I ate the cheeseburger and a few fries for lunch, then I had the rest of the fries and the fish sandwich for dinner...and then my usually iron stomach was queasy for the rest of the night.
Last Saturday, I went to a craft class at a library several towns away. There's a Burger King only a few minutes away from the library; a couple years ago, many of our local BKs permanently closed (still not sure why, though I'd heard it was one guy who owned all of them and he was just done for some reason), so it's been a while since I ate at BK. The first thing that surprised me was the line at the drive-thru. Middlefield has a TON of restaurants, both fast food and sit down, so there was no real reason for the crowd <g>. The second thing that surprised me was the kiosks inside. I *know* many places have put in the kiosks for ordering but I wasn't expecting it at Middlefield mainly because they have a large Amish population, some of whom don't use technology (others are fine with it as long as it's not in their home and indeed, a few have smart phones and laptops stashed in their barns). I ordered a candied bacon Whopper, which is a limited time only thing, plus a 4 piece cheesy tots and a drink...it came to $12. The Whopper was too sweet even for me (IMO, they should've done either the candied bacon jam OR the candied bacon strips, not both), and the cheesy tots were TINY...and cost $2.09. So over 52 cents a tot, and they weren't all that great. Suddenly I'm missing BK a lot less...
