During a recent visit from staff of one of our regulatory agencies they were talking with me about staffing concerns They asked about the average number of hours worked by direct support staff. When I told them... they replied "oh you are lucky". Since we have some staff who normally work as much or a little more overtime than regular each week, I looked at them like they had two heads. They informed me that in the metro areas where it is harder for organizations like the one I work for to keep staff... care givers are working an average of 125 hours a week!!! With there being only 168 hours in a week... this is more than a little concerning to me! These people are getting very little time off!!!
I don't know what the answer is... but I wish I had one!!!
