If you haven’t, you should as you would most likely qualify. And when you apply, let them know you have medical expenses from the past 3 months and you can probably get this covered by retro coverage.

If you haven’t applied, can I ask why not? The type of Medicaid that was implemented with the Affordable Care Act is for people like you and since you are lucky enough to live in a state that expanded you should take advantage of it. Send me a private message if you want discuss more.

As to your question though, I do agree that the insurance company should pay for it but I’ve heard that it’s hard to fight them and I’m not sure how much energy you want to expend on this. If I were you, I’d expend my energy on applying for Medicaid and get them to pay for it.
