The bells are pure alarm systems. the soft ornaments are ones that won't get broken if knocked off and knocked around by kitty paws.

I've had 4 cats my adult life, and they ALL track litter everywhere. the reason I don't recall this phenomenon from my youth? All our cats were indoor/outdoor and did their business OUTSIDE, so no litter to deal with.

i have had 3 different kinds of litter reducing mats for just outside the litterbox, and they don't do jack ish.
