the year my niece asked for a pair of sneakers. I got the shoes, then bought two cheap Christmas stockings and stuffed one shoe in each stocking. Another year, my nephew just wanted cash (which I can respect). I put the bills in the only thing I had that they would fit in and not take up a bunch of space (it was a gift that had to be mailed): an old jewelry box. The kind jewelry comes in, not the kind you store jewelry in <g>...anyways, when he thanked me, he told me he thought it was very clever of me to put the MONEY in a MONET jewelry box, considering how close the pronunciation was. I...hadn't even noticed, but if my very, very clever nephew thought *I* was clever, well, I wasn't about to disavow him of that opinion 😁
I kind of like the idea of writing out some kind of, ahem, "bill" of rights for birds and putting it in the birdhouse.
