when she wrote the novel this show is based on. I find it frighteningly relevant to what is happening in the US today. Some areas, like Florida, are getting eerily close to Gilead. It is a warning to all of us to pay attention to what is going on and to resist being apathetic. It is a call to be involved, not passive.
Visually, I think this production is beautifully done and I love the cast. I will definitely watch the upcoming sixth and final season. All shows don’t have to end on a happy note for me, although there is a strong underground resistance movement. At 6 seasons, it doesn’t feel too long to me because it shouldn’t seem too quick and easy to turn this kind of fascist theocracy around. It’s a very serious drama though. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who just wants light entertainment.
