when I visited. OMG, how different the quality of life was in certain areas largely inhabited by Jews and those inhabited by Arabs. Like a stark difference.

Newsom is super smart and has the right instincts on most policy issues, but he's also a slickster and an opportunist, and we are seeing this play out now.
