I honestly believe they're going to boot him using the 25th Amendment. How they feel about VP Vance taking charge [may] decide the timing. They can 25th him while VP Vance has over two years left being president (can only run for and hold office for one more term) or they can wait and do it while giving VP Vance only 1 year, 11 months, and 30 days...to the minute (can serve two full terms after the one he finishes).
Removing him before the midterms of 2026 may increase the Republicans' chances of keeping some seats. "I recognized a problem and stood up for what was right for the country' ("finally" being implied). That's grasping as some pretty small straws.
